Golden Orb Spider

In North America these are known as golden silk orb-weavers ( Nephila clavipes) are sometimes referred to as writing spiders due to occasional zigzag patterns (stabilimenta) built into their webs.
Over the years I have caught and brought several of these to our yard in hopes they'd find it suitable and set up long term housekeeping here. Alas...all have migrated on to (literally) greener pasture on the other side of the fence. So it was a delight to discover this one at friend's yard this morning.
