Husband Dear 's graduate studio consists of two students from Jordan, two students from China and a student from Mobile, Alabama. Tonight we had them over for a potluck (Alabama student couldn't make it), and Lu cooked the most amazing fish dish from his home town right in my kitchen. I am proud to say I picked up a trick or two, and was promised many more.
The discussion was lively and covered the situation in Syria from the standpoint of our middle-eastern guests, and the arrest of the Chinese artist Ai Wei-Wei from the standpoint of our Chinese guests. We talked about how history is taught under different regimes, and how cultures survive through food.
What can I say; when in doubt, cook and eat...
