Fiesta Jarabe

No, I don't know what it means either.

Today was terrific. Our friends gave us tickets to the TEDX Albuquerque event today, and we listened to some of the most inspirational and interesting speakers - all based in the state of New Mexico.

One was the Director of the Los Alamos Laboratory - the American centre for nuclear and space research. Another was a young girl who has Aspergers and high performing austism. She recently gave a lecture 70 odd thousand delegates to United Nations conference on sustainability, on the subject of quorum sensing coral reefs (I don't quite know what that means either except that it's something to do with how bacteria communicate).

At the other end of the spectrum was a writer and goat farmer who spoke on the importance of connecting with the earth in this digital age; and a fascinating guy who spoke about Mexican folk healing and the way it can connect with modern medical methods to provide a more holistic healing experience.

One of the best things about TEDX is that the speeches were short - anything between 3 and 15 minutes. There was no chance to get bored!!

Here's Joe Tree, our founder, at TEDX Glasgow.

This is one of the most striking sculptures on the Campus of the University of New Mexico (where the conference was held). It's called Fiesta Jarabe, by Luis Jiminez.

To read a little bit more about the events of today, and another amazing sculpture from the UNM Campus, head over to the Rower's Blip.

Thanks so much for flying my super-sized bee into the spotlight. He buzzes his thanks, along with mine. I'll try and catch up with all your delightful comments as soon as possible.
