I decided on a late afternoon/early evening walk along the beach today - haven't been down there for what feels like an age.

I hadn't been on the beach more than 30 seconds when I was approached by this chap. He asked me if I would mind him walking with me for a couple of minutes whilst he asked me about whether 9 words he had on a list should be words that I would expect teenagers to have an understanding of.......hmmm!

Anyway, as we walked he told me he's written a book and was just finalising some of the words in his list. He has a theory - that the social decline in adolescent behaviour and personal responsibility was due in no small part to the decline in our youngsters understanding and use of words that had specific moral contexts. Words such as veracity, sublimation, mortify and pernicious to name 4 of the dozen plus words we talked about.

Fascinating! I really rather enjoyed our walk and talk which ended up being a good 20 or more minutes!

In return, of course, I askd him if he would be my blip for today, a request which he accepted rather shyly!

It really is amazing what you find on beaches!
