Duck Derby

Binghamton has some of the strangest events and I'm on a constant search for them. Heard about the Duck Derby in the summer and have been really excited for it ever since. For $5 you can purchase a rubber duck and support the Binghamton Humane Society. They give you a number and it's written on the bottom of the duck.

They then dump 10,000 ducks into the chenango river and first one to cross the finish line wins some cash money prize.

Unfortunately, this year the currents were too strong and the tide was too high so I did not get to witness any ducks being dumped. However, since it was a fundraiser for the Humane Society they let the dogs that were up for adoption go in the duck pit and pick out the winners. That was pretty cute to watch.

I did not win and I did not get to adopt a cat so today was the saddest.
