LA LA Land

I was up at 6am this morning to get to Heathrow – I was already in London but allowing time for the tube and Heathrow Express I think I only got up about 30 minutes later than my colleague travelling from Edinburgh did. I managed to get a bulkhead seat with good legroom and quiet people around me, so it was a pretty tolerable flight as these things go (especially when stuck in economy). I watched a couple of films – Monsters University was pretty much as expected, but I really liked Olympus has Fallen. I thought it was a pretty decent attempt at an action movie with a thought-provoking plot.

Tonight I am staying in a hotel near the beach in Santa Monica (part of the Los Angeles conurbation - LA LA Land), and it seems to be a pleasant spot. A walk on the beach to clear the fog from the flight, then dinner and a beer before an early night.
