EAFS3
Last day in D&G as had to get back to Edinburgh for a meeting so up & out,
firstly to Gretna - to find Cinema Sark.
One of my favourite things about this festival is the sense of achievement, having hopefully navigated to the right place, you spot an EAFS sign pointing the way to the next cool thing. Proper treasure hunt!
So, time to follow the signs through a field to find Cinema Sark, under a bridge connecting Scotland & England. Simply stunning - the sounds of the cars like thunder & wind, the images of the river, people & place, the story. Pure brilliance.
John Wallace, the artist, helped me out with excellent directions to Clarencefield & the phone box for the next bit of today's cultural treasure hunt. Found it! Fantastic work in a lovely wee place by Katie Anderson.
Then headed back to Edinburgh via Barony College for Glimpse. It is such a privilege to talk to the artist & hear their thoughts - if there's a man who'll get me to trek through a field of midges & dung to see his work the way it's meant to be seen, it's Will Levi Marshall. Subtle. VERY clever. I should've stayed for the foraging.
Didn't make the meeting. Would've babbled nonsense anyway - over tired & inspired. Returned the (broken) Astra & drew a dreadful diagram explaining the damage. (Sure the man was thinking 'Hold on. YOU work "in the arts"? Really??')
