Prime Meridian

Fun school is so much more fun with technology...the other day we were discussing the prime meridian and the international dateline. In the atlas we saw a tiny picture that showed that at the Greenwich observatory there is a brass line marking where the prime meridian is, so we took a trip there, on google earth. We were able to go to street view and walk through the grounds at the observatory and find the brass line..amazing!
It also brought up discussions on English school uniforms ( there was a group of school children there on the day google came ), people who take pictures of google taking pictures of them, and the man in the check shirt who is apparently stalking the google camera...go see, he is everywhere at the observatory :0) we decided he was probably the camera's escort or something?
It was just so amazing to be able to 'go' somewhere that we would otherwise have only had one small atlas picture of...and I think it made the whole thing so much more memorable...technology is great sometimes.
