A Fine Railway Bridge
Had a walk along the Rochdale Canal today. Ten minutes after this blip was done, the heavens opened and me and Polly got soaked - but it was nice in the sunshine, which did return later.
The railway crosses the Rochdale Canal at Gauxholme Bridge, Todmorden - it is a splendid skew bridge of 31 m (102 ft) cast iron span. The end bits are semi-octagonal castellated turrets. It is an altogether grand bridge. It was built in 1840 by George Stephenson.and is a Grade 2 listed building.
Looks better 'large' ..
