A maritime nation?
It was a grey day for our coach outing to Chichester Harbour and Goodwood House but we managed to dodge the downpours and enjoy the day, even though it wasn't very bright for photographs.
After a coach ride beset with road closures and traffic jams we arrived late at the landing stage, but a little boat was still waiting to take us around the harbour. The skipper gave us a good running commentary while the first mate made coffee for everybody. I was busy taking photos of people in their rain hats, ready to put on our website!
After an excellent pre-ordered lunch in a pub we went on to Goodwood House for a guided tour. I knew nothing about the House, having heard only about the horse racing, Glorious Goodwood, and the motor racing circuit. However we had a brilliant young guide who, by means of superb portrait paintings by famous artists, told us the history of the house and its owners the Dukes of Richmond. We were then served with a cream tea with the most enormous scones you have ever seen!
I blipped the cream tea and I blipped the Goodwood House parkland but I like this one best, the cheeky ensign on the stern of our little cruise boat.
