A buzz of bees!

I was doing a bit of gardening today when I noticed the eryngeum was covered with bumble bees!
I wondered at first if they were spiked on to the blooms there were so many and they didn't seem to be moving!
But as I watched they did fly about a little but seemed very drowsy- or drugged! I haven't a clue!
It was buzzarre!
