My sister -in-law and I were just talking about how appaulling catalogues/media from museums can be - I was just at the Isabella Stewart Gardner in Boston and apart from the fact no photography is allowed -which irked me somewhat - even the postcards on sale were rubbish. The NPG in London is a stellar example in my amateur mind of great portrait photography - almost as good as being there. I dip into this book occasionally to remind myself of happy visits to this shrine of excellence.
