Gentiana and hawk moth

This has been the year of Hawk moths, they have been everywhere on Gentiana, on Agastache, on petunias (their favorite) and darting about. Many people have asked about the humming birds at Denver Botanic Gardens lately, this is probably what they are seeing most of the time, although their have been some hummers as well.

Here's to the year of the hawk moths!

Just did a bit of research my entomology professor says this is a white lined sphinx moth (Hawk moth) Humming bird moth.
