Sardines
Backblipping my week in Italy, 4th - 9th if anyone's interested :)
One last day at our favourite spot by the sea.
It just goes to show that it pays to do your own thing on holiday.
Our rep told us that to get into the sea you'd have to pay around 15 Euros a day, as each bit of access was owned by someone out to make a buck. Instead, we found a gorgeous spot that was free of charge and absolutely loved it; the walk there was tough, but picturesque and rewarding.
Likewise, the cheapest Thomson trip to Pompeii would've been 63 Euros between us; we went on the train, bought a map and a guidebook and did it for 12.20 on our own. As well as saving money, I think you get a much better feel for the place and the people than you do in an air-conditioned coach where your only contact with the locals is muttering 'Gracia' to the driver.
Plus you wouldn't get to see a back garden full of toilet parts. This was in the back yard of a house in the Sorrento cliffs. Perhaps he's a collector?
