Run, Cardinal, Run!
This Gambel's Quail is in a dead run. It looks like he's heading right for this poor Cardinal, but the perspective is deceiving. The Quail is actually about 18 inches to the right of the Cardinal. The redbird is not phased by the hustling bird.
I'm betting the critters around here are pretty used to the quick birds and their families scooting about and aren't phased by them in the least.
I watch a lot of interaction with the various small birds and animals, like bunnies, and don't see any of them change their routines because these birds flitting about.
All the birds and animals seem to live in harmonious bliss in this quiet neighborhood. I wonder how they'll feel when those other birds arrive back on the street?...the snowbirds!
