Just Practising

I think this young blackbird was getting ready for the rigours of nest building next Spring. I watched as it gathered up bits of twigs and dead grass from the floor, flew up onto the table and promptly scattered the dried bits everywhere and proceeded to gather them up again. It did this several times until it got bored and flew off without taking any of the bits with it. I've never seen this strange behaviour before and I guess it was just amusing itself or getting ahead of the game :-))
