Real or Fake ?

No, not the young starlings, but their location. The often sit around on the roves and by the chimney pots in our street, but its not in order to keep warm. The houses around us, and ours for that matter, have chimney pots, but there is no chimney below it. Its just for show (!) or for style, or to keep the planners happy, or some such reason.

I wonder - how much else around us is for show, rather than having what one might think was the obvious purpose.
