FIRST THERE’S RAIN: THEN THERE’S MUD
Sand Wash Basin Wild Horse Management Area

We parked our RV in a wide spot,
Off the “Main” road ,
That snakes through Sandwash.

During the night,
The slim chance of rain became,
A certainty,
Rain pelted against our fiber glass RV roof.
Even sneaking through our skylight,
Sending drops ping - pinging into our,
Hastily placed bucket .

The deluge turned the ungraveled roads,
Into mushy mud.
Slippery and tire sucking.

Our 4-wheel drive could slither to the highway,
A half mile away., but not our RV.
We spent Monday waiting for the weak sun,
To harden the mud.
Before a second predicted rainstorm hit.

Happily,
At 5pm we made our escape.

So, with storms predicted all week.
No wild horse photos this year.
