Alligator River NWR

The kayaks make rather remote areas easily accessible, allowing for a wilderness experience without trekking for days.

This river represents a beautiful habitat which includes alligators, though we did not see any this visit.

As it encompasses thousands of acres of cypress swamp, there is little solid ground upon which to land ones boat (much less a place to squat or stand). The absence of terra firma resulted in a most humorous circumstance when "Stinky Pete" flipped his kayak whilst attempting a problematic evacuation of the bowels.
