This is Orkney

Well - here it is. The Annual Science Festival Dance in the Peedie Kirk. Finished at 00.30 approx.

Absolutely superb dance music. The band only play once a year. They were some good - should be available free on the NHS.

Davie Linklater on accordion, Gemma Linklater on flute, Elsie Linklater on keyboard (not in shot), a very young Graeme Lowe on fiddle and Mush Marwick on drums (King of rhythm).

Dances included the Queen Victoria, Marine Fourstep, Canadian Barndance, Canadian Threestep, Postie's Jig, White Heather Foxtrot, plus of course all the usual suspects.

The poor Blip is the quick grab during the only dance I didn't do - because we used to do it ad infinitum at school.

The current Mrs Creel features in this pic.

I paid £3.00 to get in and there was free whisky all night (Highland Park), free Orcadian beer all night, a great seafood buffet and tea and fancies. And mince rolls!!!!!!!

Howie Firth (Director of the Orkney Science Festival) was the MC for the raffle which was an act on its own.

What a great, great night. Dancing to the Rognvald Anderson Band this coming Saturday night.

I was even sent outside to cool doon at wan stage. Had to ring me sark oot. The band really enjoyed playing and nearly everyone danced - it was good to see such a great turnout. Neil and Daisy were there and even danced with their 4 month old bab, in their armsy on the floor. Eldest dancer present was 82.

What a boost.
