Sharm el Sheik City Tour

Tried the hotel beach this morning but it was a disappointment. Too shallow to swim, coral too far out to be safe in the morning wind. Gave up at lunch time and returned to the hotel pool.

The hotel had been quiet with only British families, other nations have withdrawn from Egypt at the moment. During the morning we had a large influx of Egyptian families and children so the atmosphere has changed. International game of water volleyball organised in the afternoon.

My first excursion in the evening. The city tour started at 8.30pm. We spent the first 40mins in Soho Square, a large shopping area with a beautiful fountain that put on a 15min water dance display. Then on to the Mosque and the Church. The church was built between 2006 - 2010 and then 19 artists took two years to paint the inside. It was amazing and I've never seen anything like it. Final stop was a market area for an hour, so many people around at 11pm! I am beginning to understand the work at night sleep in the day life.

Returned to the hotel at 12.30am and I am out on my first big excursion at 8am!
