With my sixth form students in Manchester's Castlefield Basin. The city's industrial heritage is encapsulated in the heavy architecture all around.

Now that the dirt and smog and filth have gone, I think that the structures have taken on the mantle of beauty to match their magnificence.

The unfinished apartments (no longer are they 'flats') and their reflection in the canal combine the old with the new, our history with our future.
