Blue Jays go through one complete molt a year, in late summer. The molt usually proceeds so gradually that you hardly notice it, but occasionally a Blue Jay experiences a complete molt of its head feathers. Nothing is wrong with the jay; the feathers will grow back. It just looks a little odd for now...
