Disappointing news from our colleagues in Kenya

Disappointing news from our colleagues in Kenya today.

IMPACT installs boreholes in schools in drought-prone areas to provide clean drinking water for children and the surrrounding community. Early hydrogeological surveys at this school in Embu had suggested a high probability of finding ground water. However, once drilling commenced, it became clear that there was insufficient water. It could be that the water is much deeper in the ground (between 150-250m) but pumping water from this depth would require a diesel or electric pump, which is not a sustainable solution for this impoverished area. We are now planning a rainwater harvesting solution for this school.
