Flint Castle (remains of)

This is taken from the front of the remains of Flint castle, in North East Wales, on the Dee Estuary. The original castle dates back to 1277.

An unusual feature was a tidal moat - but quite appropriate as it was right on the estuary - you can still see some of the banking which you can now walk in with the castle ramparts high above you. Not much actually left, but a very interesting piece of history, and if you are on the castle trail its not far from Hawarden castle, Ewloe castle, then the next big one further down the coast is Rhuddlan, Near Rhyl.
