Operation Bracken Control
Out on the moor after work, it was hard not to be sprayed by the squirel ducking and swirling just below and above the Cow and Calf.
Bracken/Fern control is a complex issue, but the cover increases year on year and the non Fern covered areas provide habitat and space for a variety of upland moor fauna. I presume this helicopter was spraying the bracken for that reason. Apparently spraying in the autum as the rhyzomes store food for winter and so abosorb the poison well at this time of year. Man's complex relationship with it's envirnoment.
