Sunset Rainbow
A wonderful full double rainbow at Easter Broomhouse by Dunbar, East Lothian just before sunset this evening.
Katie and I were rewarded for getting wet on the way to the shops as we left and she spotted it - "Look Dad, a rainbow!" We hurried across the main road to a field at Easter Broomhouse, abandoned the bike and enjoyed 10 minutes of glory as the light intensified to a double rainbow, then faded as the rain receded and the sun dipped lower.
I've often wondered how a sunset rainbow would look. I knew it would be big, with the sun low the 42 degree angle at the raindrops would be high in the sky. With the light red-shifted would it be possible to get a full rainbow at sunset? We found out tonight!
A fantastic end to an indoor day, with the long weekend holiday upon us now to look forward to.
