Plaza España, Barcelona

I wonder for how much longer this square will bear the above name given the independence movement's increased momentum this week after the Via Catalunya human chain was formed that reached 400 kilometres across the region.

Anyway, I asked the taxi driver to take the surface route round the square rather than the underpass to give me a chance of a quick blip and I just about got something. These Venetian style towers were built for the 1929 exhibition and they stand sentinel (as well as vertical!) at the entrance to the avenue that leads up to the Olympic stadium in Montjuic.

It has been an ok trip back from Rio, but with no time at all between planes so a little fancy footwork was needed in Madrid airport this morning.
