Cockington
Colin came around to the chalet mid-morning and we set off for Chelston, an area of Torquay, to look over a house that Colin thought maybe worth buying as he has put his flat in Dawlish up for sale.
We didn't think a lot of the house, though it had a great view over Torquay to the sea. Chelston itself is a really nice area, with Victorian houses, small shops and cafés. We visited one, The Blue Walnut, for coffee. A very interesting café/bar that has a twenty three seater cinema at the back where not only films are shown but also live music performed as advertised in posters around the place and in the window.
After coffee we went to Cockington, a village just outside Torquay. This is a very pretty country village were virtually all the houses have thatched roofs. There are also tea rooms and eateries including the café set in a large garden where we went for lunch.
We then walked through Cockington Park, where today's photo was taken, past the local cricket club, to a collection of small workshops including a chocolataire, woodworking and glass making. It was here I saw my next gorilla in the Paignton Zoo gorilla project, not full size like the others, but pretty large and made of chocolate.
It was then on to Babbacombe for a cup of tea, just as the rain started. Tomorrow promises to be a much better day weather-wise.
