9/11
I was in my cubicle in Ann Arbor's office of SmithGroup, working on construction drawings for Consumers' Energy Headquarters. Across from me - Pat, the project architect on the job. Pat did not believe the towers were attacked on purpose. He told me he did not think there was any danger moving towards Washington.
After the Pentagon got hit, Pat went silent.
And then we all went home, and stared with disbelief into our TVs.
Baba Irena and Dziadek Wojtek called from Poland to say they are thinking of us.
We didn't eat dinner that night; we weren't hungry.
