Hope

A dusty old door of a dis-used church on a busy street in Edinburgh. I thought the ironwork on the hinges was rather beautiful. The church is covered in scaffolding and surrounded by dirt and dust. It looked sad and neglected as people rushed by without noticing it.

The church I have discovered is the former Lauriston United Presbyterian Church and until recently was an 'at risk' building. Over the years it has been subject of considerable concern of local residents and the council who wish to see the owners repair it. The current owners at least seem to have secured some funds to start to put right some of the damage and deterioration that has occurred over the years.
