Haka!
Just over a month ago, I asked if the boys and their mother would like to come with me to the rugby test between New Zealand and South Africa.. I managed to get some quite good seats, and tonight we walked across to watch New Zealand defend their 30 game, 20 year unbeaten run at Eden Park. Successfully. Final score 29:15 ; four tries to two.
This was a "traditional" game between these two sides. Hard. Unnecessarily violent at times. And brilliant skilful rugby in between torrid forward battles. I really hadn't expected New Zealand to win so well. Perhaps it was the Haka. This was one of the most intimidatory displays I've seen them do for a while. More obvious seen large.
Young L (not yet 6 years old) couldn't quite manage to stay awake for the second half. Big brother, Mr H, did and said he really enjoyed it. First test match I've attended in many years, and it was a very enjoyable experience. And not merely because New Zealand won.
