Holcombe Peel Tower, Ramsbottom

Never in my 50 years have I been here until today. We had a few jobs to do and me and Mrs Wild are nursing colds so a long day out was not on the cards. Less than 30mins drive from our house is the dark satanic Rossendale and Irwell valley at first glance it can be a bit of northern grim but if you get out on t' moors with the sun and clouds setting the contrast tis' a fine place to spent a day walking. There is added attraction of steam trains onthe East Lancs railway too. Holcombe Peel tower is one of many monuments to Robert Peel founder of the modern British police force. He was a Bury lad just down the road from Ramsbottom. Fantastically clear today which can only mean one thing, it's going to p**s it down tomorrow.
