Pier 16

Montreal seems very European. I liked the way they have retained some grunginess on the waterfront, including Pier 16. The 11 year old paintings were still impressive.

The old port area was busy this afternoon but am I alone in finding these to be irritating?

There were also interesting gardens as well as touristy portraits. The evening concluded in a fine brew pub.

Does anyone know why, in most of Canada, signs are bilingual - English and French - but in Quebec are French only? I really don't object to monolingualism but the different approaches are baffling.
