Chinese Artist Ai Weiwei exhibit in Toronto

The Toronto Blipmeet 2013 was a cozy walkabout consisting of Ford (Shandonner), Larry (love light / lrw), and me. We met at Union Station and walked up Bay Street to Old City Hall (which almost was my blip), across the square at City Hall which had this cool exhibit Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads by dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei (which ends any day now here but continues at the AGO for a while), over to University Avenue, through Kensington Market, and along College Street to Cafe Diplomatico for beers on the patio in the sun. I had Amsterdam Brewery's Big Wheel Amber Ale.

Since this was also my old stomping grounds, I acted as a tour guide along the way. We then wandered up Euclid Avenue past my old house, along Harbord Street, up Palmerston Avenue then through Markham Village to Honest Ed's (which Shandonner blipped), to the Bathurst subway station and took the train to Museum station to look at their cool station pillars (like this one), then on the train again to Union, and finally a short wander to the flatiron building and over to a pub - the Bier Markt - for a some more beer (Hasseröder Premium Pils for me) and dinner (shrimp and sausage flammekuesches (Alsatian flatbread)) on the patio (see photo).

7.5 km of walking (says Google Maps). All in all a great afternoon! Thanks guys!

These sculptures are part of Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads.

SHRIMP & SAUSAGE FLAMMEKUECHES: black tiger shrimp, handmade Breton pork sausage, roasted tomato, Saint Paulin cheese = YUMMY!
