Shark hunt
Inspired by seeing the basking sharks off Burghead and our failure to see any on our two trips to the West Coast we set to sea in our own Corribee to try and find some at close quarters. Unfortunately we had a tight schedule as I was picking up my 'new' car on Friday and the weather forecast for Sunday was horrific. By the time we got on board dusk was fast approaching and the wind was dying. We had to motor most of the way to Cromarty, but it was relaxing navigating by the lights of the channel buoys and seeing our own navigation lights (newly fitted so at least they worked) against the starry sky. The next day was fine as we ran before the wind towards Tarbet Ness scanning the sea for the telltale fin. Various sea birds, seals and bottlenose dolphins were spotted but no sharks. All too soon it was time to beat back up the Firth before the impending storm and make sure the boat was securely moored. Never mind an excuse to go again!
