H J Jackson: 60 years at the cutting edge
Norwich print fair is a great annual event. It's held in St Margarets, one, of very many medieval churches in Norwich. Now called Church of Art. Norfolk has a thriving artistic community, so it a good place for art shows.
When I called in yesterday it was realy buzzing .
This man has been print making for 60yrs, yes realy. He made his 1st age 14yrs and went to Norwich Art School age 16 on the strength of it. He's been a print maker ever since. He does Lino Cutting a relief print technique. A different block is made for each colour : so they all have to fit!. Imagine the exactness of that. Here he's lifting a black print for a 5 colour design, off the inked block. It then hung to dry then on a line.
I don't remember them doing demonstrations before. Quite a challenge eh !
