A little cheer!
I spotted this sunflower on my way to work on Wednesday morning out of the corner of my eye as I drove under the shadow of the bridge. It was unexpected, and cheered me within. What was a sunflower doing there under a bridge on the outskirts of town, where there is no soil and cars whizzing past and spattering it with grime?
Answer: It was cheering me up!
It made me think how busy and grimy life can be but that in unexpected places something beautiful will be waiting for you to notice it.
Being unable to stop on Thursday or Friday to take a photo, Jewelz and I took the time to walk out to it today.
It was covered in dust and grime from the passing cars and it was clear that it was not well cared for, yet it's beauty shone through.
Perhaps that is how our lives should be! Covered in the grime of daily living, yet allowing our beauty to be present and cheering to passer-bys.
It's beauty was more striking in that desolate place.....just where it was needed most.
I found this little video last night while looking for something else and was quite struck by it. I don't think it ends quite the way I wanted it too but felt that it reflected the day I had had.

I'm not too sure how to get it so that you can just click on it to view but if it doesn't work look up 'The Red Tree' on youtube by ellsiekay. It is a lovely little animation of a Shaun Tan story.
