Sports Storm
Well as promised the Storm arrived this morning and lasted well into the afternoon; it’s only now that blue skies have started to appear. With the rain hammering down and it being on the slightly chilly side, I decided to stay in and enjoy a feast of sport on TV.
First up was the Great North Run, superstars of the sport on show in Haile Gebresalassie and Mo Farah, celebrities and the true hero’s the inspirational charity runners. So many stories, so many good causes you can’t help but be inspired by it. Fingers crossed for me in a few weeks’ time!
Next up was the Men’s World Triathlon Championship final taking place in Hyde Park, London, and a real chance of a British Champion as the Brownlee brothers, Jonny and Alistair, could win the gold. As the race developed both were well in with a chance, but then as it entered the final phase, the run, it was clear Alistair was carrying an injury and was not able to compete as he should. But Jonny carried on and was battling it out with Javier Gomez, and as it entered the last bend it looked like Jonny had won it, but a burst of speed from Gomez saw him snatch it on the line. Incredible stuff and you had to feel for Jonny, it must have been gutwrenching stuff to be that close. I’ve loved watching the triathlon series this year, and can’t wait for next year. Of course I can’t leave it without mentioning Non Stanford’s win in the women’s race yesterday, and she of course is Welsh!
And now to settle down and watch the NFL!
In other news I’ve got an offer for my audimobile, but I need to negotiate on the price and then hopefully I can go ahead with the sale.
