Stone Circle
Delivered my beloved daughter to Aberdeen for another year of uni we then stopped for a walk round Easter Aquhorthies Recumbent Stone Circle near Inverurie. "It is one of the more well known recumbent circles. Dating from around 3000 B.C.the diameter of the circle is approximately 20 metres. The circle stones vary from 1.116 m to 1.77 m in height, are very broad and massive, and are of pinkish porphyry or red jasper whereas the flankers and recumbent are of grey and red granite respectively. The recumbent stone is 12'6" 3.81m) long, of reddish granite, and is thought to weigh 9 ton"
