Great Christmas Bake Off

Despite all that is going on I managed to maintain the family tradition of baking the Christmas cake at the September holiday weekend in Edinburgh.

The aroma of spices and fruit - and brandy - both in the preparation and in the baking fill the house. The cake will be in for several hours so we'll have to wait and see how it turns out. Given the high winds and squalls and occasional sunny spells outside this is a perfect way to spend Sunday.
