The Eagle Stone
The Eagle Stone is a Pictish stone in Strathpeffer. It is carved with 2 symbols: a horse shoe-like arc symbol and an eagle. Our coach driver* told us that the Brahan Seer predicted that if the stone falls three times, the valley will be flooded and the stone used as an anchor. The stone has already fallen twice - and is now held in place with concrete!
*Yes, we went on an OAP holiday!! We were far and away the youngest people on the trip, and in many ways found it a bit restrictive as our days were rather too organised for our liking, but as a way of seeing the most of Scotland, it couldn't be bettered as we'd never have covered as many miles if I'd been driving.
