View to the Langdales
After a busy July and August, snatching a little break to join someone who has also been having a busy time recently. The early morning flight was a much easier proposition for being able to break the journey at Kinsale to stay overnight with Rachel at her new house, giving just a half hour's drive to get to the airport at Cork. After a rendezvous at Manchester Piccadilly we headed up by train to Windermere and then by bus to Ambleside, to reacquaint myself with the Lake District, a place I last visited when I was a teenager.
Naturally enough, we were soon out on the fells, taking a walk up and around Loughrigg, enjoying views over to the Langdales where we expected to be walking the following day. We descended into Grasmere for a look around the picturesque village before a lower level walk back via Rydal Water. We made the most of the daylight, returning to Ambleside just as it got really dark and leaving barely enough time for a shower and a bite to eat at our chosen restaurant before last orders.
