Urban Goatboy
So I'm driving home from a photo shoot and look over to my right. I see a bunch of people and animals in a vacant lot and think, oh! a new dog park! But wait. Dogs don't have horns! Those aren't dogs, those are goats! Pygmy goats! In the city!
Turns out, this lot is home to the goats. The property owner owns the goats and a couple of caretakers manage the care and feeding of them. They've become quite a neighborhood attraction - the twenty minutes or so I was there, probably twenty people stopped by to see what was going on. People played in the field with them, some cuddled the two week old babies, Precious and Clover. Some, like this young boy and his mom, fed them weeds. It brought smiles to many faces!
The goats have their own Facebook page. I put a few more photos in a Flickr set.
I raised milk goats many years ago. They are interesting animals - they can be very stubborn and also very endearing. I loved watching the youngsters hop around, play with each other and with the other farm animals. Somewhere I have a photo of a baby goat and a cat nose to nose. It would have made a great blip.
