2nd Training Ride
After lots of work on the cross-trainer in the gym I ventured out on the bike today to see if the training programme is working.
Used local roads and the national cycle route to see how far I could go. Strong winds, some pouring rain, some drizzle, some sunshine.
27.4 miles (44km)
8.5 mph average speed
15.2 mph maximum speed
3 hrs 11mins in the saddle
1 stop at 12.4 miles
legs = nothing left (I judged the turn back point to perfection)
lungs = good
heart = fine
bum = totally numb
Target is the 50km Cycle the Solway event in support of Eden Valley Hospice.
