Practice

Just practicing with my new remote control gadget. Glad there are more birds around with this colder weather to help me out. I must say I am pleased with the results. There are drawbacks. Lack of spontaneity is one. But providing you have the time to set up the camera on a tripod, and can focus on a fixed spot such as a bird feeder you can get much closer to the action and sit back in comfort in the warmth of the house awaiting arrivals. You take a lot more pictures of the same thing. I used manual focus so it could also mean a lot of out of focus shots if the subject is not quite in the right plane. Plenty more experimentation to do!
