Bloom

Today these floral bouquets cost 6 euros. I wonder what they'll cost tomorrow.
I saw these early this morning and with the blip topic in mind I decided to take a snap. Although they fit the topic well they don't say anything about our day.
We set out this morning to do what we failed to do yesterday. We left the B&B early only to be foiled at the first hurdle because the only road up the mountain to Pont d'Espagne was closed for most of the day so that the road could be repaired after recent floods caused it to collapse. The only time we could go up was between 12:30 and 2:00. That meant passing a couple of hours in a nearby small town. We considered changing our minds about trying to see the bridge and the lake and going for a bike ride instead but we decided we would stick to the plan.
The lake we were trying to reach is at an altitude of over 5 000 feet. Getting there involved a drive up a steep road with a nerve racking number of hair pin bends, a ride in a short but steep cable car and a scary ascent in an open ski lift. After that a fifteen minute walk took us to the lake. It's surrounded by high mountains and is a beautiful sparkling turquoise blue. The mountains rise behind it up to about 7 000 feet and in places are covered in snow. To say it was worth the hardship of the journey would be an understatement.
When I get home I will share some of the magic by putting some photos of the day on my Blipfolio. For the moment these sad looking flowers will have to do.
