Strange Asian Foods #2
These bright green worms are a food stuff know as chendol - it's a component of a fabulous Asian dessert which is made up of shaved ice, palm sugar, coconut milk and these green worms scattered on top (the worms are actually green bean powder, pandan leaves and food colouring). I had it last year in Singapore and when I posted a picture of it on facebook my sister-in-law remarked that it looked like something you might get served at the Star Wars cafe. Anyway, in Singapore I met up with my first ever boyfriend and we discussed my love of chendol. When I got home he sent me this pack. Alas, I now see it's gone past its sell-by date and may have to be resigned to the food waste bin. It was never going to taste as good as it tasted in Singapore...
