Big release day!

Saturday was time for the flutterbyes to fly the nest . . . we couldn't keep hold of Pinkiepie, Lily, Poppet, Thomas and Bertie forever ;)

The kids said goodbye to them and then we opened the lid . . . and . . . nothing!

There was one near the top, so I reached in and it walked on to my finger - the kids were fascinated! Then Keira had it on her hand for a little while, and was so good and so gentle :) Eventually, it decided to fly away (apparently that was Pinkiepie) after a few wonky swoops, it was off!

I lifted out some of the little branches to help the others out, 1 flew away unaided (Poppet), it was so cool to watch it go, the others were transferred on to our buddleia bush for a rest first. We watched another fly away after a while (Bertie), and then left the other two to have some peace and quiet and work it out for themselves. We went out, and when we were home, they were all gone :)
