Barnard Castle
There are two ways to drive back to Manchester from County Durham:
The first is down the A1, then across the M62 (the highest motorway in England). Some views on the motorway are spectacular, but it is impossible to stop and take photographs.
The other way is to head South-West, ang on that route, you pass by three castles: Raby, Barnard and Brough. The road then takes you to the Lake District, then on, down the M6, past the turn for Blackpool and on to home.
This is a picture of one of the towers at Barnard Castle.
Barnard Castle can be found in the town of Barnard Castle (not surprisingly).
